Global Warming Hearing on Youth Leadership

I found this pretty moving.

If you want to see other videos and read a lengthy article on the hearing, then head on over here.

I made the mistake of trying to read some of the comments on "Crooks & Liars" regarding Rush's verbal attack on this woman. Oi. It's sad, but paid experts have convinced a good chunk of the U.S. population that it is an open debate and that no conclusive evidence has been brought forth. It's bad enough that the IPCC is regarded as a bunch of 'European lefties.'

So, I guess this would be too:

But I'll be damned if it's not a good website. By scientists.

I made a similar mistake on an environmental post there a few months back, but I gotta tell you - it's just as big a mistake to read the reactions to the open forum environmental articles on the BBC.

There are so many people in England who think it's either just another scare tactic (somewhat understandable given that their media has been whipping them up about this and that long before 9/11 - Re: Pedophiles) or some excuse to raise taxes. There are plenty of folk who are on board or at least open to the issue as well, of course, but I'm still pretty shocked at the stark contrast between the presented image of the British environmental stance and what you encounter in both internet and 'real-life' arenas.

Yeah. I suppose it makes sense when you consider that you're going to hear more from radicals on both sides than you will from moderates who are somewhat reasonable and open-minded and aren't too fussed about yelling at others regarding their point of view on such matters.
