Ah yes, this story. One that I'm personally glad that I don't have to touch with a ten-foot pole (or a pole of any other size, for that matter).
Religious beliefs aren't to be trampled on, regardless of my (or your, for that matter) personal feelings on 'em. At the same time, the Hippocratic Oath? Doctors aren't going to let babies die in the hospital if they have socially-accepted and relatively simple ways of helping those same babies.
Yeah, that definitely caught my eye too. I've kept a still somewhat skeptical eye on it though, as there seems to be an unwritten rule that you have to back up your article with links to more legitimate news sources (BBC et al).
But then, I think, why read Wikinews? Why not stay with the Beeb etc? The answer, I do not know for sure! Perhaps the lack of ads? Perhaps that I'm already on Wikipedia?
Also, Shawn-o, sorry my man but religious belief's have been given a free ride for tooooo long. They can get all the verbal trampling people can give. Science sure does!
Sure, you already have one. But this is so much better! Best part is, it's not actually a joke.
"The Private Secretary's Office acts as the primary source of advice to The Queen on all policy matters. The APS is to take care of planning and organizing The Queen's official program, briefing her on the issues, working with Government departments and handling management and organizational issues.
An outstanding candidate is sought from the public or private sector, with excellent judgment, administrative and organizational skills, conceptual thinking and strategic planning ability, and should be a team player with good interpersonal skills.
Applications should be received by Monday. The Royal Household is committed to equality of opportunity.
Unfortunately, the notions of personal freedoms (of beliefs, of religion, of speech, and on and on it goes) means that I can't condone the aforementioned "trampling on" of personal belief systems. So long as what Billy believes doesn't hurt anyone else (and therein lies the rub of this entire issue), there's not much you can say aside from 'I think you are wrong!' Ah, democracy!
The nut of it is this: Go and be quietly insane anywhere you want, but don't let it harm anyone else. That is crossing the line.
After all, there are still people who believe in Zionist conspiracies, those who believe the Earth is flat (I am not making this up), and so on and so forth.

This has nothing to do with the article itself, but I noticed this: "From Wikinews, the free news source you can write!" at the top of the page.
Writing your own news? Seriously? Reminds me of that Colbert episode where talks about writing his own history.

Meanwhile, what about cultish beliefs?
