Teddy Boys..my oldest sisters era.(late 1950's) They were bad boys. Flick knives were their weapons of choice. Slashing cinema seats was their entertainment on a Saturday night. Usually seen in gang like groups. Early Elvis Presley music. They weren't greasy motorbike types like the "Rockers" who came after.
Teddy boys liked to dress very smooth and stylish. They liked to sneer in a threatening way at anyone who wasn't a Teddy boy.Everyone knew they were up to no good.

Huh! I guess youth crime involving knives wasn't invented at the same time as hooded sweaters and rap music, as British news these days would have us believe.

Thanks for the backstory!
